1.What is MCCB?

MCCB is the abbreviated name for moulded case circuit breakers. It is used to protect the electrical circuit and its components from excessive current. If this current is not isolated at the right time, it will lead to overload or a short circuit. These devices have a wide range of frequencies which makes them suitable for multiple applications to protect the electrical circuits. They are available in current ratings ranging from 15Amps to 2500Amps making them usable in both low and high-powered applications

2.How the MCCB operates?

The MCCB uses a temperature sensitive device (the thermal element) with a current sensitive electromagnetic device (the magnetic element) to provide the trip mechanism for protection and isolation purposes. This enables the MCCB to provide overload protection, Electrical Fault Protection against short circuit currents, and Electrical Switch for disconnection.

4.Applications of MCCB


MCCBs are designed to handle high currents and are used widely in heavy-duty applications such as adjustable trip settings for applications with low currents, protecting motors, protecting capacitor banks, welding machines, protecting generators and electric feeders.






5.The function of MCCB

a. the molded case circuit breaker has the functions of leakage, short circuit and overload delay protection. The molded case circuit breaker can not only close, carry and disconnect the current of the normal circuit, but also close the abnormal operation or overload of the electrical appliance; If there is a short-circuit fault, the molded case circuit breaker will automatically disconnect the switch after receiving the command, so as to protect the line. Molded case circuit breaker is equipped with leakage protection device with high precision and sensitivity, so it has super function of leakage protection. Once it exceeds the limited scope of the equipment, there is a danger of destroying electrical appliances and other equipment. It does not need to cut off the power immediately, which can be alleviated for a period of time.


b. the molded case circuit breaker has the function of isolation. The shell device of the molded case circuit breaker itself uses plastic insulators to isolate conductors and ground metal parts. All parts are sealed in the plastic shell, which is compact and dense. When the current exceeds the tripping setting, it will automatically cut off the current, so as to isolate and protect electrical equipment and personal safety.


c. the plastic case circuit breaker has the function of limited current breaking. The ability to safely cut off fault current is a special function of molded case circuit breaker. It has four rated short-circuit breaking capacities: rated short-circuit breaking capacity ICN, rated limit short-circuit breaking capacity ICU, rated operating short-circuit breaking capacity ICs, and rated short-time withstand current ICW.
